Swimmingly

Updates in light of Swimmingly! I wanted to share some learnings I have found as I've dug into Swimmingly's training platform https://swimminglyapp.com/training/. I'd encourage everyone to begin exploring these resources.

I've attached their Swimmingly Playbook - a high level overview - I'd encourage you to share this document with your meet manager, coaches, starter/refs as soon as possible.

I've also attached the Swimmingly App Help Guide - this offers detailed instructions on running a swim meet with Swimmingly. I'm sure your Meet Manager will live by this document!

Training #1 - Swimmingly

  • March RMSL Meeting
  • Swimmingly's Clubhouse Platform
  • Invite coaches, meet managers, starters, refs to attend!

Scorekeepers (one for each team) will share one iPad on the pool deck.

Runners are no longer a necessary role. Delete this from your meet job templates in Swimtopia.

Meet Entries. Currently, Swimmingly is unable to take meet entries by individual - but they can if input by a coach. They are working to add individual entries and hope to offer it this season (but they can't guarantee it yet). If the update is available, we will use this as our meet entry platform for this season. If it is not available, we will use the process we've done up until this point - allow swimmers to declare via Swimtopia and then export the file and import into Swimmingly.

Swimmingly per swimmer fee. The question was asked if the per swimmer fee fluctuates. In talking with Swimmingly, they've never raised it in the last 7 years. While it isn't set per say, they don't have plan to increase it each season. As they build out premium features like meet declarations, team communications, registration, etc they may shift the fee directly through the SwimminglyFan app - that is the parent facing app. In that case, they'd shift the fee from the teams and onto the parent app side.

Wifi requirements. There is NO wifi requirement for the pool deck. The device supplied from Swimmingly in the startup kit is all that you need.

Power requirements. Power will need to be run to the router. The router will be hung from the backstroke flags, facing the pool. You will need to run a cord to an outlet.

Meet Builds within Swimmingly. I'll build out the leagues schedule within Swimmingly - no need to enter your own schedule.

iPads for purchase. I have asked around to find a way to get discounted iPads. I found someone who recently closed up a business they were running that used a few iPad pads. They have 8 iPads (6th gen wifi/cellular 32 GB) available for purchase of $300 each. Some of these are new and never used and others have been used but are in excellent shape. If you're team is interested email [email protected].

Encourage your parents to download the Swimmingly App at registration. This will alleviate so many users trying to download right before the meet.

I'll keep sending out updates as I run across helpful tidbits or tools!

Sincerely,

Kelli
