COVID-19 & RMSL Season Planning

Hello RMSL Swim Parent Reps,

Thank you for the participation in the league wide survey last week - it is very valuable to have feedback from each team as we navigate these uncertain times.

The league Executive Board has meet a few times in the last few weeks to plan how to proceed with league activities. The league will follow USA Swimming guidelines to determine when it is recommended to resume league activities. Currently, USA Swimming is mandating cancellation of all events (including training's and practices) across the US through April 30, 2020. USA Swimming is constantly monitoring and assessing to determine the best course of action.

As a league, we recognize this timeline impacts teams ability to host registration nights, purchase apparel, and conduct league trainings (such as Stroke Judge, Starter, and Swimmingly). At this time, we have the following plans and suggestions based upon last weeks survey:

1. We recommend opening online registration as you feel appropriate but consider asking parents to delay payment until closer to the start of the season. (This helps to avoid needing to refund parents if the season is impacted).

2. RMSL Starter/Ref, Stroke Judge, and Swimmingly trainings will be scheduled for after May 15th. (Currently, we cannot make reservations at libraries until they reopen).

3. Currently, under the mandates by USA Swimming, RMSL activities can resume as scheduled to run the season without adjustment.

4. If further restrictions are put in place/extended but league activities can resume by May 31st, the league will begin practices on June 1st and meets on June 13th.

5. If USA Swimming or local government officials recommendations prevent swim team activities beyond June 1st, the season will likely be cancelled.

Thank you for standing with us as we navigate these unprecedented times.

Sincerely,

RMSL Board
