UPDATE: 2020 Swim Season Delayed
Good Afternoon RMSL,
As we navigate these unprecedented times and lean into the recommendations of the leaders in the sport of swimming, USA Swimming has released the following update:
USA Swimming Board of Directors has made the decision to revoke all
existing USA Swimming sanctions and suspend granting sanctions
through May 31, 2020. Prior to the end of May 2020, the Board will evaluate
whether to extend the suspension period. This will be continuously reassessed
based on health and governmental authorities’ information.
In light of this timeline, the RMSL season will be delayed until the scheduled June 13th meets. This will allow teams to hold two weeks of practice and conduct necessary training prior to the first meet.
We are disappointed and stand with all the families this delay impacts. We are hopeful that we will be able to be a rallying point for our communities by holding the long standing Colorado tradition of swim meets this summer.
At the May 5th league meeting, we will vote to determine if the season is extended in light of this delayed start. At that time, we will evaluate any further direction from government and community officials on how best to proceed and prepare for the season.
Sincerely,
RMSL Executive Board
