RMSL Upcoming Trainings (Meet Manager, Starter/Ref, Stroke Judge)

Hi RMSL Parents

A quick note regarding the upcoming trainings on our calendar:

  1. Tuesday, May 11 @ 7 p.m. https://zoom.us/j/4683539000 - A training on how to use Swimmingly. This replaces our former training on Meet Manager. This is our typical league meeting time - but meet managers and starter refs are welcome to join their parent reps. A link to Swimmingly training videos is below; it would be highly helpful for participants to watch these videos in advance of any training they are attending.
  2. Thursday, May 13th @ 7 p.m. https://zoom.us/j/4683539000 - Virtual training for returning stroke judges. Please watch the USA Swimming videos from the below links as a prerequisite for this training; we will focus this training on a quick review from the videos via the standard stroke briefing, a quick review of how Stroke Judges use Swimmingly, and by taking any questions that the group has.
  3. Saturday, May 15th @ 10 a.m. Hunters Hill Pool - In person training for new stroke judges and for any returning stroke judges. Again, please watch the below videos in advance of this training. This training will feature a more in depth discussion of the videos, a more full review of the stroke briefing, discussion around how to use Swimmingly, and live, in-pool demonstrations of the strokes to be judged. We will also take questions from the group.
  4. Thursday, May 20th @ 7 p.m. https://zoom.us/j/4683539000 - Virtual training for Starter/Referees. We will review the role of the Starter/Referee at the meet, discuss meet scenarios, go over the stroke briefing, discuss the role of Swimmingly, and take any questions that come from the group.
  5. Saturday, May 22nd @ 1 p.m. Hunters Hill Pool - Live Swimmingly practice and meet preparation. Open to all interested, we will practice running a meet - starting, timing, judging, and scoring. Note that we will no doubt experience difficulties with this training, but the hope is to discover some things that work well in advance of any practice meets that each team may run before the season starts.

Of course, we realize that not everyone can make these trainings. If you cannot attend, please do watch these videos and do your best to prepare yourself for the season; our swimmers deserve everyone’s best efforts to support them!

Please let us know if you have any questions.
