Hi RMSL,

I wanted to reach out to the swim teams again this year to see if there is a way to get participation from the neighborhood in providing positive support for a very important cause, through the combining of swimming (or other activities) with community service. After the past year, giving to help others has hopefully been something many in our neighborhood have realized is very important to their well-being.

Attached are the two flyers for our 2021 Swim Across America-Denver event this year to again raise awareness and funds for cancer research in Colorado. Unlike last year when we had to cancel most of our events, we are able to have our main open water swim event at Chatfield in late August under strict guidelines and reduced numbers. But we know swim teams will be coming back together in some form or fashion this summer, and I hope that I could somehow work w/ you and the team (and neighborhood) to host a pool swim fundraiser, or something else, to bring the community together to support pediatric cancer research in Colorado. Over our first 3 years, we have raised over half a million dollars, and we want to definitely increase that this year after drastically reduced numbers last year. As noted on our site, we are also offering an “SAA My Way” option to help get participation from non-swimmers.

If you’d like to talk with me more about SAA, or specifically our Denver event or pool swim idea, I’d love to meet personally or via Zoom. In addition, I really appreciate the ability to bring this to the RMSL team parents and coaches as an idea I have (and that has been done in other SAA cities) for an overall RMSL challenge/competition and team-building option this summer.
